Superinfection Rate in Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients was Found to be Low
"...only 9% of inpatients with COVID had a bacterial superinfection that could be treated by antibiotics, and that was a real breakthrough, realizing that most of these patients are not going to be infected that way."
Anne Meneghetti, MD, executive director of medical information at mobile medical reference app epocrates, talked recently with Patient Care© about what has been learned about--and learned from--the early COVID-19 pandemic hospital experience with antibiotic prescribing.
