Expert to Primary Care: Use these "ABCs" to Manage Obesity and T2D

Video

Primary care clinicians see a number of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity, and are often the first health care professionals to approach management of obesity. In a recent interview, Patient Care Online asked 2 obesity experts to share 3 things that should be top of mind for primary care clinicians when addressing patients with obesity and T2D.

"Just remember: ABC," said Shagun Bindlish, MD, medical director of One Medical in Dublin, California, joined by Dr Peminda K. Cabandugama, director of Digital Obesity at the Cleveland Clinic. "A" stands for assess and avoid judgement, "B" for barrier and behavior, and "C" for improving cardiovascular risk factors.

Dr Bindlish and Dr Cabandugama discuss more in the video above.
