DiabetesWise Pro founder highlights the 3 most beneficial website features to help clinicians compare all the available CGMs, delivery systems, AIDs, and smart pens.

DiabetesWise Pro is an unbranded, one-stop online diabetes device comparison tool recently launched by a group at Stanford University, led by professor Korey Hood, PhD. Features of the site include:

  • Device Library Information on specific device fundamentals
  • Comparison Tool The tool lets clinicians to compare devices across a wide range of features, including cost, as well as patient needs and preferences
  • Prescription Tool A step-to-step guide for ordering the device and filling a prescription based on insurance type
  • Resources for providers by providers Best tips, tricks, and workarounds for diabetes technology from clincians who use it

Patient Care spoke recently with Hood and asked him if he had to pick the 3 DiabetesWise Pro features he feels would be most beneficial for primary care providers who prescribe, are thinking of prescribing, or just want more information on diabetes technology, which would they be?

Korey Hood, PhD, is a professor of pediatric endocrinology and of psychiatry and behavrioal sciences at Stanford Univesity, Stanford, CA. Hood also directs NIH- and foundation-funded clinical research focused on health and quality of life outcomes for persons living with diabetes. He has lived with type 1 diabetes since he was a young adult.
