COVID-19 Update: Global Confirmed Cases as of April 3, 2020

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is now >1 million globally. Plus more data from the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map you should know about today.

How many cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been confirmed globally?

According to the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 interactive map, as of today, April 3, 2020 at 1:01 PM, there have been:

  • 1 066 706 confirmed cases

  • 56 767 deaths

  • 223 697 recoveries

The US continues to lead with the most confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 258 214 total cases to date, followed by Italy with 119 827 cases and Spain with 117 710 cases. 

Italy has the highest number of confirmed deaths (14 681), followed by Spain (10 935) and France (6507). China leads in recoveries with 76 760 people who have recovered, followed by Spain with 30 513 recoveries and Germany with 24 575.

How many cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the US?

As previously stated, there are now 258 214 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the US as well as 6699 deaths and 9428 recoveries.

The 5 states with the highest total confirmed cases are:

1. New York: 102 863
2. New Jersey: 25 590
3. California: 11 206
                                      4. Michigan: 10 791
                                   5. Louisiana: 10 297

New York also has the most deaths due to COVID-19 with >1500 reported fatalities, followed by Wayne, Michigan with 194 deaths.
