Primary Care Check-up: Long-haul COVID-19 Poses New Challenges
"Long-haul COVID," also known as "post-COVID conditions" encompass the wide range of physical and mental health consequences experienced by some patients for 4 weeks or more after infection with SARS-CoV-2. Although details regarding long-haul COVID-19 are unclear, many post-COVID conditions can be managed by primary care physicians.
However, many primary care physicians are concerned that current payment models and primary care workforce levels are insufficient to meet this new patient need, according to the latest national survey of PCPs conducted by the Primary Care Collaborative.
