President of the Alabama Obesity Society, Dr Jonathan Parker, provides an in-depth overview of the association between obesity and hypertension.

While the relationship on the contribution of obesity to hypertension is clear, "the relationship of how hypertension contributes to obesity is a little bit more difficult," said Jonathan Parker, DO, MS, a family and obesity medicine physician at Avalon Medical Group in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in an interview with Patient Care Online.

Dr Parker, who is also the president of the Alabama Obesity Society, recently sat down with Patient Care to discuss obesity and hypertension. Below, he provides an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the 2 conditions.
