For Patients with Obesity, Expert Discusses Importance of Checking Current Medications before Prescribing New Therapies

"The first thing I want to say about medications is please always conduct a thorough review of the patient's current medications," said Alina Elperin, MD, when asked in a recent interview with Patient Care Online about what type of medications primary care clinicians should be prepared to prescribed to help prevent cardiovascular disease and other complications in patients with obesity. Dr Elperin is an internest and obesity medicine specialist in Evanston, Illinois, as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
