Excessive alcohol consumption has long been a health problem in the US and the prolonged stress put on Americans created by the COVID-19 pandemic led many to drink more alcohol to cope. Alcohol use and misuse, however, does not occur evenly across the nation. A recent analysis from NiceRx examined drinking patterns and cost of alcohol intake in each state using data from the World Population Review, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics. Below, find the 5 states that ranked highest and lowest in each category.
