Case # 3
There are multiple small ulcerations on the inner surfaces of both labia minora of this 27-year of woman who reported pain on a level of 7 (on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest) for about a week. She had self-medicated with fluconazole, 150 mg PO on two occasions, and had also attempted unsuccessfully to treat herself with tioconazole cream that she bought OTC.
This patient had recently acquired a new sexual partner. She had never had similar symptoms.
What is the cause of these lesions?
